Custom Residences Custom Residences

From very traditional homes to ultra contemporary residences, each project is an opportunity to develop more than just a home, but an expression of the clients themselves. With every detail of the home developed to meet their tastes and lifestyle, custom design provides a unique opportunity to create a truly one of a kind residence.

  • Set atop a hill, overlooking the Huron River valley, it is hard to imagine this home is less then 5 minutes from downtown Ann Arbor. The staging of the masses blends with the gently sloping hill this home is nestled into.

Carrying the details of the exterior to the interior creates a custom home like no other. It is these details that really make a space unique.

  • Each home is designed specifically for that client, and this custom residence in Ann Arbor was no exception. Recognizing the client's talent for whimsical decoration J K Janiga Architects developed a home to showcase both their existing art and unique expression of style. Contemporary elements, an open design concept and attention to details make this home something exceptional. Even simple features such as the built in entertainment center become an element of art.

  • Designed for a very small lot near a local golf course, this home was for the true golfer. Incorporating a "putting green" on the garage roof and a driving range in the spacious basement the golfer's paradise would not be complete without it's own private golf cart garage.

Due to narrow lot width and a mature Magnolia and Blue Spruce tree, the public areas of the home had to be located at the rear of the property. Access from the entry through the home was resolved with a glass-lined corridor creating a gallery space which opens to a small outside garden courtyard.

  • A grand statement for a collective family, this private residence incorporates a primary residence with in-law apartment. It also has the amenities to accommodate up to four additional extended families for the holiday seasons or summertime family reunions. Situated within one of Michigan's elite golf course communities and overlooking the Grand Traverse Bay this residence commands a significant presence amongst it neighbors.
