While in need of more retail space, this successful picture framing and art store in downtown Brighton, was also looking to create studio space. The only location for an addition was the rear of the building to an existing under-utilized alley. Creating a unique rear façade improved the alley and became the standard for all future developments in the area. Since completion of this project, the alley has become an active corridor as other businesses recognized the value of developing this unused space.
Looking to update their reception area, this local tanning salon asked J K Janiga Architects to assist them in improving their imagery for their clients. With a beach themed space, the reception area sets the tone for relaxation and escape with the use of soft materials and pastel colors. Even though the budget was limited, with careful product selection, J K Janiga Architects was able to create this tropical paradise.
Wanting to develop a facility to assist customers with understanding construction methodology, this lumberyard retained J K Janiga Architects to design their local showroom. With the use of residential forms and exposed construction on the interior, we were able to create not only a unique showroom but also a place for customers to easily see and understand typical residential details.
After a successful 30 years in business, this local hardware store was in need of a facelift. Working with the owner through our program phase, he determined not only was a facelift needed but also additional retail space and an improvement in traffic flow. Through the development of a small addition and the redesigning of the parking area, we were able to create both a unified design while improving traffic flow. Already a landmark in the community, this business is ready for the next 30 years.
